PREFACE/INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
As a very highly evolved Teacher, The Buddha Consciousness has returned to Earth, as a resource to humankind, with one primary objective: To present self-help spiritual development techniques and tools that assist humanity to better the Earth and foster greater spirituality as we begin the New Millennium. Toward this end, these books have been made available, leading us in a graduated lesson-plan sequence, to become Masters in the classical sense. While it is true that we already are masters, the capitalized word 'Master' in these books applies to those who have and will become self-realized, consciously using these principles on a daily basis. As you read each page, you take new steps on your own path of becoming a Master. These principles work quite effectively and open the door to true self-realization. The information in these books is timeless, it is always applicable.
- The Buddha Consciousness "The purpose of this body of work is for the spiritual enhancement, upliftment and a blessing for all of those around the globe. This message comes on a wavelength of love, grace and beauty to all of humankind. It is for the purpose of bringing humankind into a greater attunement. It is with a great shining light that the world is coming into upliftment, to understanding and into a consciousness of freedom and At-Onement throughout the world. This is our purpose, to bring about that message of self-empowerment, that message of spiritual beauty, that message of peace and understanding and more importantly, the message that God is part of your life, part of your being and an integral part of galactic beauty and peace. So, as you read these materials, know that you will go forward enhanced, uplifted, better prepared to manage your own life and, at the same time, glorifying that Creative Intelligence that is All Things."
And again -
"We have presented these works so that you who live on this planet can grow in self empowerment, can come into an understanding of your own divinity and can learn to manage your lives through your skills that are gained through understanding yourself. Your prosperity and abundance can only come to you through the understanding of self-empowerment and of deep spirituality in your life. Your use of intuition and creativity can only be developed through your willingness to open forth to it and to allow your spirit guides to assist you with your adjustments on the earth plane... and that is what they are here.
"Know that the turn of the century bring an opportunity for souls to uplift themselves. The evolution of the earth plane consciousness is in a phase of tremendous growth and change in that the present phase will close and a new phase of wisdom and peace, which we are heralding in our messages, will open. The present phase of growth will close (in about 2010) and the new phase of wisdom and peace and brotherhood on your planet will become the new consciousness. This is what we are about, this is what light is about, this is what energy is about: To uplift consciousness.
"When we say 'new consciousness' we are speaking of light, energy and the recognition on your planet of what already is. This is specifically why we are here, to teach that message of light and energy, to teach the message of resolution of old ideas and to bring into the earth plane a readiness to live spiritually.
"Through these books, as a series to help you rediscover who and what you are, you will learn to manage your lives, from self-empowerment to spirituality, and a great deal will be learned. Turn to the task of becoming a spiritual adult. Read on, and know that we are with you and that we bless you as you do so."
For those of you who are not acquainted with this series of books, The Buddha Consciousness, is an uplifted Consciousness, a very highly evolved Teacher who's last incarnation on the Earth plane was as the living Buddha, and a resource to mankind presenting self-help spiritual development techniques and tools to assist humanity to foster greater spirituality in the New Millennium to come. To assist in this effort, they have presented this series of self-help books, leading the reader to potentially become full Masters in the classical sense.
"We consider our material a body of spiritual teachings with such a scope that it can be passed down from generation to generation for the upliftment of mankind through the next millennium. As such, we prefer to use the term 'New Millennium,' rather than the metaphysically oriented term referred to as 'New Age.'"
Unlike the previous works from The Buddha Consciousness, Section I of this series was originally presented as a series of workshops to a small group between March and May 1991, while the material for Section II occurred between June and October of 1991. While it is preferable that the reader have the background of the earlier books by The Buddha Consciousness, it is also recognized that some readers will have a fairly good spiritual background and gravitate directly to the more advanced materials. Toward that end, we have included some background material in this "Universal" Introduction instead of using the usual Foreword and Preface format.
In presenting these materials, we have also included all of the meditations that were presented during the original sessions. The purposes of this are to provide the reader with as much of the original material as possible in book form, to allow everyone to see just how flexible the use of light and energy techniques are, and to preserve the side explanations that are embedded in the various meditations. We strongly recommend that you, the reader, record those meditations to which you are personally drawn, as your own voice is a powerful personal tool and will serve you well as another way to enhance your personal growth. It must be emphasized that these meditations should be used as examples of the principles involved and not viewed as sacred. You may want to use them as they are presented or modify one or more to suit particular situations you are working on. We trust you will benefit from this approach as well as the more formally presented material.
For those of you who are experiencing these materials for the first time and would like to find some meditations to use, two quick and easy-to-use techniques have been presented in "Living Life Radiantly" as Personal Color and Peace, Be Still. As with any meditative technique, for those that are not accustomed to meditation it may take some degree of patience to firmly establish the vibrations, but these particular techniques are probably the easiest to learn and use, yet the most powerful spiritual advancement meditations available today.
LOTUS, HALF-LOTUS & SEATED MEDITATIVE POSITIONS -
The Lotus position referred to in Book # 2, "Living Life Radiantly," is one that, from a seated position, places the legs in a 'butterfly position' with respect to the body and requires the bottom of the feet to face upward while resting on the inside of the thighs. While possibly preferred, this position is normally quite difficult to accomplish if one has not had relatively extensive training in Yoga exercises. The Half-Lotus position also places the legs in a butterfly position with respect to the body, but is not as stressful on the knees and legs since they are simply folded toward the body. The seated position is simply one of resting the feet flat on the floor from a normal seated position. In all cases, the back is in an upright and straight position and the hands are placed on the thighs in a palms-up fashion. Through time, however, as your connection with the Universe is accomplished, you'll find that you can meditate at ANY time and in virtually ANY situation. (Don't tell the Highway Patrol, but I have, personally, found myself meditating while walking, shopping, and even while driving! - Don)
from Chapter Five of "Living Life Radiantly" - What is personal color?
"The personal color is YOU. It is your energy and your vibratory rate as it is seen in other dimensions. There is not a meaning behind it, per se, but know that, as you close your eyes and view your personal color, you are in touch with Spirit itself, which is you. In other words, you are seeing the God in you, and you in God as you envision your personal color. It replenishes you, restores you, and puts you back in balance in a very short time.
"The method of viewing your personal color is to simply sit down, close your eyes, focus, ask for and view your personal color, relax into it for a few moments, then go on. This may take a few days, because you may have an expectation or idea about the color you want, but a color will come to you that you consistently see every time, and that you will begin to resonate to. You are going to feel a resonation and that's when you know that you have connected with your personal color.
"When you have become accustomed to your personal color, it will bring you an influx of information, a centeredness and stability you are grasping for. Personal color can be used a great deal. It is not just a meditative thing, but can be used in times of stress, in times when you wish to experience a lift, to rejuvenate, replenish, and refresh yourselves. When you visualize your personal color, you are in attunement with God. It is a prayer. This is why we instill the use of personal color in all those we meet.
"The practice of viewing one's color can be done at any time of the day, but preferably in the early morning (upon arising), in the late afternoon (as an energizer) and in the evening (before retiring). It normally takes only three to five minutes each time and is done from a relaxed, light meditative state, simply allowing the color(s) to appear. The predominant color you see is your personal color. If, when you first begin to view your color and you get nothing, then relax. Do not 'force' this most natural event, but allow yourself to relax, to 'flow' and very soon your color(s) will appear.
COLOR INTERPRETATIONS AND APPLICATIONS -
"The Universal colors, those beyond the normal human range of physical vision, are dazzling, alive and possess a sparkle and luminescence that many artists can only try to emulate. Also understand that all applications are relative, so that in any given situation, while the use of a given color may be more desirable than some others for one person, another individual may well do better, for him or her, using a different color.
"White light is the light of Spirit itself, for it includes all other colors. It is the closest that you will see through your human eyes to that you call God. The white light is that of the highest vibrational level and is singular in its vibration. In other words, all things vibrate to the white light or to the One. The highest color you can meditate on for your planet, is white. It is the color of love, of God, and indicates deep upliftment and a certain awareness of self as Spirit.
"A personal color of black is not necessarily the color of evil as many on the earth plane think, but is very much a color of deep accomplishment, for what is the opposite of white, but black. Seeing this color indicates that one has come through a great deal of personal trials and overcome many things. It is a very accomplished personal color and can be a precursor to white or gold, often lacking only the recognition or awareness of self as Spirit.
"Brown is a very grounding color or can be seen as posing the need for grounding.
"When you are in meditation and it is difficult to return, we recommend the apricot light. This is the light that is not only grounding, but cooling, and brings you back into the focus of the earth plane.
"Red is the color of upliftment, vivacity, aliveness, depth of soul, compassion and support.
"Use an orange or yellow color to uplift yourself, to give yourself a special gift of refreshment. While these colors are both energy lifters or energizers, yellow is used much more than orange for this purpose. Also, while orange is less disturbing than red, yellow is a bit more harmonious than orange.
"Green, either light or dark at the individual's discretion (as with ALL colors), is very often used for healing illness. Use it for healing when you do not feel well. Some people might do better with a light green color for healing since it is softer and less harsh than dark green.
"From an applications standpoint, white, pink, violet and green are non-invasive colors of one's personal space and often used for release and resolution for the highest good, while white and a light, intense blue are often used for protection.
"If you have money problems, visualize a very cleansing green and white color. Visualize a very cleansing color that will allow you to have that energy flow through you and resonate to you. Begin to realize money as light and energy, as a resource for your use. That energy flows through you for your use and is not meant to bring you into a state of anxiety.
"Deep blue is a color of deep emotionality and of attachment to emotion. This color is often seen where people are working through emotional issues, but is also seen in some parts of the world as a very spiritual color. It is to be used in the sense that one needs to visualize lighter shades of blue. Blue is also sometimes used for healing, but not as much as other colors. As these individuals transcend, as they recover from the need to live in their emotions, the lighter shade of blues will appear (which can indicate a great deal of spirituality), and then they will move into the violets, the pinks, the roses (rose is really quite an evolved color) and at that time, they will often begin to move into lighter shades of pink and white.
"Pink, rose, violet and possibly even purple are heart colors, the colors of love. If there are difficulties in your life in terms of love, visualize pink and rose tones. Know that as you do these color visualizations, you are cleansing your light, uplifting your energy and bringing yourself into the perfection of the moment of Spirit, of God.
"When one is in distress with another soul, a very useful method to help alleviate that situation is to visualize the violet or purple light from your heart to their heart. (Violet is a facilitating and connecting color.) As you do this, know that you are bridging that gap, you are closing your difficulties with that person and opening your heart to the best for all.
"Gold is a very prominent color, associated with royal accomplishment, abundance and completion. In a series of meditations on personal color, at times, a gold will present itself and this is the color of completion. That is the circle of understanding that comes when each given color has been completed, so that a new color will present itself."
(NOTE: On a personal note, as Diane was slowly succumbing to cancer and I was still hoping for a "miraculous" healing such as I knew was entirely possible, I regularly sent her green and/or white light. When I "saw" these lights change to gold before she absorbed them, I then knew, even as I kept hoping for that miracle, that there was little hope of her surviving much longer on this earth plane. - Don)
GENERAL HEALING COLORS AND BODY AREAS -
"General healing applications, not including the chakras, are from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin - white... throat to diaphragm - pinks or violets... power chakra - white or yellow... abdomen - green. these are not absolutes, but, in general, it is always safe for the beginner to use pinks, greens and violets since they are the primary healing and heart colors. Colors used for healing depend upon the emotional content of the illness or affliction in question and upon the energy level of the patient. Be gentle, thoughtful, intuitive and flexible... be flexible. When working with light and energy, you are also working with a person's very being. Definitely, don't be afraid of using these techniques, but understand that a high degree of skill, applied 'by the book,' without intuition and flexibility can actually be more harmful than helpful."
The chakras, as mentioned in this and earlier works, are vortices between the physical and the real worlds. While most teachings address the first seven major body chakras, with a new eighth chakra mentioned in "Engineering Your Spirituality," the body, in fact, has numerous chakras throughout, four of which, located in the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet, are also used in these meditations. The 'vortex', most often used in Book # 2, "Living Life Radiantly," is in reference to the seventh, or crown chakra. While all the chakras are actually vortices and we, in fact, are really light, or energy vortices, The Buddha Consciousness often refers to 'the vortex' as this chakra in reference to looking at a situation or thing psychically and for opening to Universal flow in this book. In later the works, they refer to the sixth chakra for "psychically looking." To quote:
"An interesting way to consider the Chakras is to view them as windows from one dimension to another. They are transformational vortices throughout your body which allows you to use your body consciously in order to bring about change.
"You may focus on your chakras one by one, sending them cleansing white light, followed by a loving pink light. This method can be used in conjunction with the traditional chakra colors or as a stand-alone meditation. Its purpose is to keep you and your chakras attuned to the highest vibration for you. As you use white light to cleanse the debris of toxic feelings, attitudes and emotions, followed by pink light, your vibrational level automatically adjusts itself, attuning to what is currently best for you. As you progress and evolve spiritually, your vibrational attunement reflects your growth.
"We often suggest using the power chakra as an avenue to release deep issues or feelings. We use this chakra because deep issues and feelings are associated with power and we want you to fully understand that. In using simple tools to release forgiveness, and light and energy, you empower yourself, rather than giving your power and creative energies to those issues and emotions.
"As you work with and become familiar with our meditations, you will note that we include the chakras of the hands and feet. Although this may not be traditional, we consider it vital. There are several reasons for this. As you know, our purpose is to lead you to the God within, to realize that God is within and without, that God is everywhere. In so doing, you can open the palms of your hands to receive as well as to give. As you send and receive light and energy through the chakras, you are sending them through the interdimensional window, the transformational vortices. You are co-creating with light and energy and handling your issues, feelings and emotions spiritually, promoting well-being.
"The soles of the feet are a simple and natural avenue for release. While in meditation, simply ask the chakras of the feet to open. At the end of a long and tiring day, sit back quietly and meditate on releasing negativity through these chakras. You will soon find that you feel more peaceful, and sleep will be far more refreshing and restorative.
"As you learn to view your body as transformational in its nature, you will soon discover other chakras. For example, there is an eighth chakra in the middle of the chest, with a guarding chakra on either side. As spiritual growth deepens, this eighth chakra often opens. This chakra is an expression of advancing spirituality and, as with all of your chakras, to be regarded as a treasure. The guard chakras are there to protect your new treasure, as well as to guard you during this most vulnerable state of expanding spiritual awareness.
"As you get to know your body better, you will find that it truly is a masterful instrument, meant to serve you in every way." (January 21, 1994)
PHYSICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS -
Let us not lead you astray by letting you assume there are no apparent adverse side effects from accelerated spiritual development... you may experience many or few, it depends very much on you and your ability to release, to allow the changes to take place and to learn to love yourself. In fact, it is very sad to see so many people get so far along the path and decide on some level that the price is not worth the gain. Yet they make this decision with absolutely no reference point as to the real benefits! The Buddha Consciousness and The Universal Oneness attempt to describe these benefits, but, it is often very difficult for the normal person to really relate to these descriptions because they are, in fact, (1) almost indescribable in human terms, and (2) very individualized. Chapter Seven of "Engineering Your Spirituality" has attempted to do this, but the database for listing these benefits is, obviously, somewhat limited, relying upon anecdotal evidence, rather than statistical. The most basic denominator that can, perhaps, be used is that the reawakening of the God-force, or the Christ within, or Grace, or whatever you want to call it, is like finding an old friend within you that brings an indescribable internal peace and joy.
Some of the temporary physical problems along the way, however, can be very difficult to understand, particularly to Westernized medical concepts which, after much testing, will probably relegate the 'symptoms' to 'some type of psychosomatic disorder.' Some of the symptoms are mentioned in the chapter entitled "Core Change" in "Living Life Through Self-Empowerment." But we have found that there may also be an intensification of these effects as well as days-long dizziness problems and physical fatigue that makes it an effort to even move, much less attempt to function at anywhere near a normal pace.
If you would insist on doing a very deep, cellular cleansing of the body, similar to but even deeper than described in the later works, you could well find yourself 'down' for days as the body slowly eliminates the debris and toxins you have loosened. In addition, the toxins themselves can produce an extremely debilitating lassitude, to the extent that a normally healthy person could be exhausted from climbing one flight of stairs! The only remedy available is a lot of rest, drinking plenty of water and continuing to love yourself.
Another anomaly is the automatic activation of the eighth chakra and the associated guard chakras. This activation CAN be accomplished with no apparent physical signs, but it can also feel almost like indigestion in its early stages or a non-physical softball-size lump in later stages (Reference Book 1, "Engineering Your Spirituality," Chapter Seven). In any of these symptoms, be sure to check with your doctor, but do not expect conventional Western medicine to find anything 'wrong.'
Also, do not underestimate the power of 'the yardstick of the world' that is repeatedly mentioned. This 'yardstick,' particularly to what might be normally considered 'high achievers,' can provide an extremely powerful psychological restraint and promote a desire to return to what is 'familiar.' Family and friends, not understanding what you might be working on or the obstacles you are under to do it, in addition to your own inability to articulate what you have yet to experience, tend to put enormous pressures on you to 'get serious' and 'act normal.' Even if you had the experience, you still might not be able to verbalize it such that others could understand the terms you use. The language is not the true barrier, but the lack of the experience is. Those who can 'identify' with such experiences without 'precise' terminology do so because they have had the experience. All we can say is to consult your intuition. If it is right for you and you really want to pursue and attain the benefits we have tried to describe, then don't give in to this pressure and quit!
HOW TO READ THIS MATERIAL, GENERAL -
In this book, as in all these works, we trust you will read the material as requested:
"We suggest that you read these materials more than once and that you let it begin to take place as a body of knowledge. These messages are meant to be seen as a body of knowledge, not necessarily in bits and pieces... so that you are creating a new concept of reality within the self. If you get lost in the details, you are going to be attaching yourself to how you want to re-create your lives. (February 7, 1990) It is important that this material be deeply absorbed on every level. We would suggest then, that you read a few pages each day." (From 'Reconstructing Your Reality Through Letting Go Of Perfection', February 7, 1990.) (November 3, 1993)
HOW TO READ THIS MATERIAL, SPECIFICALLY FOR "THE LIGHT PATH" and "ADVANCED KEYS FOR LIFE MANAGEMENT" -
"When one has moved through such an advanced workshop as this, it is important to express to you that this, simply put, is a guideline to you for your use as your life goes on. The principles and tools that we have provided are to advance your spirituality, to assist you in suspending limitation in your life and certainly to help you understand the law of cause and effect more graphically.
"So we would recommend to each and every one of you that, as time goes by, you take it upon yourselves to review this material. A one-time reading and participation in this workshop is hardly enough, when you consider the time put forth by the ascended Masters. Do not be hard on yourself if you do not find yourself in total mastery of the principles that we have presented. This is a life-long task and an eternal one, for we too, in Spirit, are also moving toward opening our spiritual hearts, absorbing more of the divine light. And, as the spiritual consciousness of God expands and grows... and it does... so do we. So, death is not the end of your spirituality, but the beginning of it in a more magnificent understanding."
In the earlier books in this series, 'Living Life Radiantly,' 'Living Life Through Self-Empowerment,' 'A Path to the Inner Self,' and 'Living Life Through Creating Mastership on Earth,' as well as "Advanced Keys for Life Management,' the Q & As were integrated into the main text to provide a continuous flow of information. However, in "'Schoolhouse Earth,' the accompanying book by The Universal Oneness, 'The Heart, The Pathway of Light,' and 'The Light Path,' the number and quality of questions became too cumbersome to try to do the same thing. Therefore, in these particular books, we have included a chronologically arranged and indexed section of questions and answers primarily pertaining to the material at hand, but including some interesting side topics. In some cases, a question might appear to be of a somewhat personal nature, but the answer would provide a sufficiently generic response to be included as an example of the principles The Buddha Consciousness had been presenting. We trust you, the reader, will benefit from this section as well as the more formally presented material and possibly even identify to some extent with situations others have asked about.
While a belief in reincarnation is not absolutely necessary, it does help to understand portions of what is presented, particularly with respect to Book # 6, "Living Life on Schoolhouse Earth." While this is, obviously, not so much of a problem in the Eastern religions or the Muslim countries, for some reason, Christianity has erroneously assumed this concept had been "outlawed" by the church many centuries ago (Dr. Geddes MacGreggor, "Reincarnation in Christianity," 1978, p. 16). Reincarnation was as central to the early Christian Gnostics as it is to the Jewish kabbalistic tradition. And, in fact, a couple of Christian biblical passages have made it through all the errors that have been done through translations and omissions (both overt and covert) that reflect a strong reincarnationist belief system in Jesus time: Matthew 16, 13-14 and John 8, 58.
